About our Pork

The story behind our pork starts way back when Justin was showing animals at the fair in Kenosha County in the 1990’s.

It grew well beyond a fair project and while he was in high school had 30 sows (momma pigs)! He even bred a boar that was sold into stud (meaning it had superior genetics that other hog breeders wanted).

But when he was attending Farm and Industry Short Course at UW-Madison, the hog market crashed and he lost a lot of money.

He started dairy farming full-time with his dad and uncles, sold all his pigs and thought he closed the book on pig farming forever.

Fast forward 15 years…

His first born child, his son, Weston started asking for pigs when he was 4 years old to be like his Godfather and neighbor Grant.

Weston’s pig story in his own words at 5 years old…

Hi, I’m Weston.

My mom said I could get pigs when I was big enough to take care of them myself as they had a lot going on. A farm, a store and my baby sisters.

She said she would know I was big enough when I could take care of one of our baby calves by feeding it everyday 2x/day from the day it was born until the day it was weaned off of milk (about 10 weeks!).

That summer, I named my calf Chopper and I fed it everyday! I did it. I was big enough for PIGS! (Look above for a picture of me and Chopper.)

So for my 5th birthday, I bought 3 pigs from my idol, Grant. I named them Big Cowgirl, Centershot, and Snarly the Snout.

I was able to keep Cowgirl and breed her. The other two we harvested and my mom helped me sell them in her store.

My mom says that pasture raised pork is good for you because it is full of healthy fats and protein.

Which is good for me as I get to eat bacon just about as much as I want.

She also helped me make a recipe book you get when you buy my pork.

I think she is a pretty good cook, I mean just look at how big my muscles are!

Thank you for buying my pork so I can keep raising them. I just love pigs.

Today our pigs are raised on the pastures of our farm just outside of Viroqua, WI where they can use their strong nose to root up bugs, roots and grubs and wallow in as much mud as they’d like.

For early 2024 you can get my pork through our very limited pork subscription boxes.

I will have more pork ready by fall of 2024 if you are interested in ordering a whole or half hog.

It is the best pork you’ve ever tasted.

Love, Weston
